Kenya records 276 new COVID19 cases,18 more deaths

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,26TH OCT 2020-Kenya’s virus fatality rate has risen to 920 with 18 more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. This is as the country recorded 276 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total caseload to 49,997.

This was from a sample of 2,126 tested in the last 24 hours.

At least 20 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 52 on supplementary oxygen and 20 in the High Dependency Unit.

The Ministry of Health in a statement on Monday  confirmed the majority of the new cases were Kenyans, while three were foreigners.

Cumulative tests conducted so far stand at  662,046.

From the  cases, 179 are males and 97 females while the youngest is a two -year-old child and the oldest is 90 years.

Meanwhile, 220 patients have been discharged after successful recovery, raising the country’s total to 34,429.

Out of this, 150 were discharged from the home-based care programme, while 70 were from various health facilities.

A total of 1,191 people are currently admitted in various hospitals while some 1,406 patients are on home-based care programme.

Mombasa leads in the distribution recording 71 cases in one day.

Other counyties with cases include Machaoks 58, Nairobi 50, Kilifi 21, Busia 21, Kwale 19, Kajiado 13 and Garissa 6
