BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,23RD SEPT,2020-Kenya on Wednesday recorded 130 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 37,348 , Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed.
This was from a sample of 3,874 tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative tests done so far to 523,998.
The positivity rate stands at 3.4 per cent.
The number of fatalities rose to 664 after another five patients succumbed to the virus.
Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing from Kenyatta University Teaching Research and Referral hospital, Kagwe said age-wise, the youngest was a three -year-old infant while the oldest was 90 years old.
Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 35 cases in the last 24 hours.
Other counties with new cases include; Kiambu (23), Kisumu (19), Mombasa (14), Uasin Gishu (8), Kerich (6), Kisii (5), Busia (5), Kilifi (5), Bomet (2), Narok (2), Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Kajiado and Machakos had one case each.
Another 106 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 24,253.
A total of 25 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 81 were discharged from various health facilities.
