5 die as Kenya records 183 new COVID19 cases,total rises to 36,576

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,17TH SEPT,2020-Kenya has  recorded 183 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 36,576, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed.

This was from a sample of 4,188 tested in the last 24 hours.

The number of fatalities rose to 642 after another five patients succumbed to the virus.

Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 54 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Kisumu 26, Mombasa 20, Kisii seven Turkana five, Siaya three and Samburu two cases.

Another 82 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 23,611.

A total of 33 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 49 were discharged from various health facilities.

Since the onset of the pandemic, at least 945 healthcare workers have been infected with the virus with 16 having succumbed across 35 counties in the country.
