Kenya records 179 news cases of COVID19,415 recoveries

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,4TH SEPT,2020-Kenya on Friday recorded 179 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 34,884, Health CAS Rashid Aman confirmed.

This was from a sample of 4,178 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 467,677.

Aman confirmed that all were Kenyans except 17 who were foreigners.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing from Bomet county, Aman said age wise, the youngest was a one -year-old infant while the oldest was 75 years old.

Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 66 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Garissa 21, Nakuru 12, Turkana 12 and Buaia 11.

Another 415 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing  the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 21,059.

A total of 161 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 254 were discharged from various health facilities.

The number of fatalities rose to 589 after another four patients succumbed to the virus.
