BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,27TH AUG 2020-Kenya has recorded 373 new COVID-19 cases following testing of 4,663 samples in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s caseload to 33,389.
Ministry of Heath Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman also announced that three more patients had succumbed to the coronavirus, raising the total fatalities to 567.
At the same time, 72 more patients have also recovered from the disease bringing the number of recoveries far to 19,368. Out of the 72 recoveries, 36 were under the home-based care while the rest were discharged from various medical facilities.
Out of the 373 new cases, Nairobi recorded the highest at 117 followed by Busia (66), Nakuru (37), Kisii (32), Homa Bay (15), Kiambu (12), Kisumu (11), Uasin Gishu (8), Garissa (7), Isiolo (7) ), Narok (7), Taita Taveta (7), Mombasa (6), Murang’a (5), Migori (5), Kajiado (4), Kirinyaga (4), Kericho (3), Nandi (3), Nyeri (3), Machakos (3), Bomet (2), Kakamega (2), Kitui (2), Nyamira (1), Siaya (1), Turkana (1), Meru (1) and Makueni (1).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry maintains that its earlier projections on the COVID-19 infection are unfolding as predicted, urging members of public to continue being vigilant and follow the protective measures.
“We have not missed our peak. Everything is still falling into place vis-à-vis what we told you at the beginning of the pandemic… So we still stand by our modeling projections,” said Dr. Patrick Amoth, Ministry of Health Director General.
