Kenya records 245 new cases of COVID19, 504 recoveries and 8 deaths

BY NAMULONGO PETER,17TH AUG 2020-Kenya’s COVID-19 cases on Monday rose to 30,365 after 245 more people tested positive for the disease from 3,150 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman, addressing the daily coronavirus briefings, said 145 of the new patients are males while 100 are females.

Dr. Aman said recoveries also rose to 17,160 after 504 patients recovered from the disease; 461 of them were under home-based care while 43 were discharged from various hospitals.

Eight more patients however succumbed to the disease, taking the number of fatalities to 482; 5 of them had underlying issues.

The CAS urged healthcare workers to maintain the course and their frontline role in protecting the country from the pandemic.

“As professionals and healthcare workers we have an obligation to serve. When you take the Hippocratic oath you ought to serve. Let’s not throw our hands and allow Kenyans to suffer in the midst of the pandemic,” he said.
