Kenya records 515 new COVID19 cases,pushes total infections to 29,849

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,15TH AUG 2020-Kenya’s COVID-19 infections on Saturday neared the 30,000-mark after 515 more patients tested positive for the disease from 6,353 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, addressing the daily coronavirus briefings at Afya House, said the new cases took the country’s tally to 29,849.

According to Dr. Mwangangi, the 515 patients are composed of 496 Kenyans and 19 foreign nationals.

The CAS also stated that seven more patients succumbed to the disease within the same period, taking the number of fatalities in the country to 472.

She added that recoveries rose to 15,970 after 672 patient recovered from COVID-19.

Dr. Mwangangi warned that the disease has now been reported in all parts of the country saying “the choices we make as individuals will determine how quickly we win the war against the virus.”

She further stated that thermo guns may not pick out a positive case of the disease, however adding that this should not invalidate their use.
