BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,11TH AUG 2020-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 497 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 27,425, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed.
The new positives were drawn from the 4,171 people whose samples were tested within 24 hours.This brings the country’s cumulative total tests to 362,501.From the new cases, 467 were Kenyans while 30 were foreigners.
Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing, Mwangangi said in terms of gender, 312 were male and 185 were female. Age wise, the youngest was a six-month-old infant while oldest was 80 years old.
Some 372 patients have now recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 13,867.
A total of 315 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 57 were discharged from various health facilities.
However, 15 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising fatalities in the country to 438.
