BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,3RD AUG,2020-Kenya’s COVID-19 infections on Monday rose to 22,597 after 544 more patients tested positive for the disease from 2,653 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rahid Aman, speaking during the daily coronavirus press briefings at Afya House, said the 544 include 499 Kenyans and 45 foreigners composed of 315 males and 229 females aged between one year and 84 years old.

The infections were recorded across various couties namely; Nairobi (412), Kiambu (27), Machakos (17), Kajiado (17), Garissa (16), Uasin Gishu (14), Mombasa (9), Nakuru (8), Nyeri (5), Narok (5), Makueni (3), Laikipia (2), Murang’a (1), Kilifi (1), Busia (1), Embu (1), Bungoma (1), Kisii (1), Kwale (1), Meru (1).

Dr. Aman also revealed that the tally of fatalities hit 382 after 13 more patients succumbed to the virus, with 10 of them having had underlying medical conditions.

He further stated that the number of recoveries now stands at 8,740 after 263 patients recovered, 176 of them under home-based care and the remaining 87 discharged from various facilities across the country.
