BY UPESI REPORTER,NAIROBI,28TH JULY,2020-Bomet Senator Christopher Andrew Langat has replaced Nairobi’s Johnson Sakaja in the Ad-hoc Committee on Covid-19 Situation in Kenya.
Majority Whip Irungu Kangata on Tuesday issued a notice of motion for approval of Langat’ appointment as the chairman.
“The I’s have it,” Senate speaker Ken Lusaka said after a majority approved the nomination.
Last week, Sakaja officially tendered his resignation as chairman of the Senate Ad hoc committee on Covid-19.
” I hereby tender my resignation as the chairman and a member of the senate Ad hoc committee on Covid-19,” Sakaja said in a letter to Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
In a letter seen by the Star on Tuesday, Sakaja said his resignation is effective July 20.
The senator said he had decided to step down from his position in the committee in order to set an example and take responsibility for his actions.
He was caught drinking at the Ladies’ Lounge pub in Kilimani at 1am.
