Kericho joins counties with COVID19 cases as Kenya confirms 143 new infections in the last 24 hours

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,30TH MAY 2020-143 Kenyans have tested positive for the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman has confirmed.

The new cases are from 2959 samples tested between Friday and Saturday and brings to 1888, the total number of cases confirmed in the country.

At the same time, the  new samples bring to  76962, the total number of samples tested in the country since the pandemic was first reported.

The new cases are consist of 110 male and 33 female and range between 1 month and 88 years in terms of age.

They are distributed across the country as follows: Mombasa (25), Nairobi(86), Kajiado() Uasin Gishu (11), Kiambu (6), Busia (3), Kwale (3), Migori (3), Kajiado (1), Kisii (1), Garissa(1), Isiolo (1) Makueni (1), Kericho (1)

The cases are further  spread out across the sub-counties as follows: Kwale- the 3 cases are from Msambweni, Migori-Kuria West (3) cases, Kajiado- Kajiado North (1) case, Kericho-Aina Moi (1) , Kisii- Bombasi (1) case,Garissa – Lak Dera (1), and Makueni- Makueni West (1).

The cases  in Nairobi are distributed as follows: Makadara (45), Kibera (21) Embakasi South (6), Kasarani (5), Ruaraka (3), Embakasi West (2), Langata (1), Starehe (1) and Westlands (2).

In Mombasa, the cases are distributed as follows: Likoni (11), Mvita (9), Nyali (2), Changamwe (1) and Jomvu (2).

Kericho has become the latest county in Kenya to record a positive case and brings to 33, the total number of counties that have reported infections.

Kenya has also recorded (1) fatality from a 59-year-old patient bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 63.
