BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,18TH MAY 2020-A Nairobi court has summoned the Kamukunji Police Station OCS after a suspect accused of kidnapping a police officer escaped from the police cell where he had been detained.

Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot directed on Monday that the OCS appear in court on Tuesday to explain circumstances under which the suspect identified as Martin Wasike escaped from lawful custody.

The summon was issued following a request by lawyer Alfred Nyandieka, representing the family of the police officer.

The court was told that the missing suspect who was being held at Kamukunji Police Station alongside his co-accused is not a Kenyan.

Wasike alongside two other suspects; Shariff Wanabwa and Phoebe Anindo, were charged last week with the offence of kidnapping in order to murder.

They allegedly committed the crime on January 19, 2020 at an undisclosed location.

“…on or about January 19, 2020 at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court kidnapped police constable Abel Misati in order that the said officer  may be murdered or disposed of as to be put in danger of being murdered,” reads the charge sheet.
