Detectives arrests KPA MD Daniel Manduku

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,2ND MARCH,2020-Detectives have this evening arrested Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Daniel Manduku  for unlawfully recommending the gazettement of the Nairobi Inland Cargo Terminal as a KPA facility.

Manduku was arrested on Monday and taken to the Director of Criminal Investigations headquarters on Kiambu Road.

The KPA managing director is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday alongside Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner of Customs and Border Control Kevin Lewis Safari.

According to the DCI, the two together with others connived to Gazette the Nairobi Inland Cargo Terminal as KPA facility yet it did not meet the requirements for gazettement.

They are set to face among other charges abuse of office, breach of trust and neglect of official duty.

Upesi News last year reported widely about  Manduku  after the DCI began investigations  into what detectives believed was a Ksh.2.7 billion tender scandal at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The probe sanctioned in August 2019 implicated top officials at the ports authority including Manduku who was accused of authorising irregular expenditures totaling to Ksh.2.73 billion.

Manduku  at the same time dismissed the allegations claiming they were being fronted by people interested in KPA tenders.
