BY CORRESPONDENT,VOI,18TH DEC 2019-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has failed to appear in court in Voi where he was scheduled to face assault related charges. Sonko has been accused of attacking a police officer and injuring him during his arrest two weeks ago.
The governor who is out on bail is facing corruption related charges that have seen the county government of Nairobi lose Ksh 357.
The same charges prompted his arrest after the director of public prosecution Noordin Haji ordered his arrest and prosecution.
However the governor is facing another charge after he committed the offence of attacking the officer who was leading an operation to arrest him in Voi.
Governor is reported to have injured the officer after biting his lower lips.
On Wednesday though his lawyers said he is unwell and therefore could not stand trial.The case has been moved to January 21.
