NTSA Reveals that Over 3,000 people were killed, 10,000 injured on Kenyan roads this year

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,3RD DEC 2019-The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released shocking  statistics about accidents that occurred in 2019 indicating that More than 3,000 people were killed and over 10,000 others injured .

This is according to the latest statistics released by  the agency on Tuesday evening  a total of 3,225 people died and 10,825 were injured on Kenyan roads between January 1 and December 1, 2019.

During the same period last year, the number was lower with 2,827 people having died and 8,954 injured.

Out of the 3,225 victims who died in road accidents this year, the majority were pedestrians at 1,247 followed by motorcyclists at 660 and passengers at 644.

The number of pillion passengers killed this year was recorded at 299 while pedal cyclists were 67.

The agency says among the 10,825 reported to have been injured this year, 6,183 were serious injuries while 4,642 sustained slight tissue  injuries.
