Sad:Nakuru trader set ablaze by husband dies due to injuries she suffered

BY CORRESPONDENT 4TH  OCT 2019-A Nakuru woman  who was doused with petrol by her husband and set a blaze  has succumbed to burns she sustained during the incident.

Lucy Nyira, a mother of three who was a trader  died at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital where she was receiving treatment.

Nyira  trades in second-hand clothes  and had just arrived home on Saturday evening when her husband set on her with kicks and blows.

She had gone to Nairobi to buy stock for her business and arrived home at about 8 pm which angered her spouse.

The husband, Bernard Kariha, accused her of coming home late since he expected her journey from Nairobi to take two hours.

According to her  neighbour, Eunice Watiri,  Nyira lost consciousness when her husband poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.

Kariha is a motorbike repairer at Kiratina Estate where he lived with his family,after the incident he surrendered himself at the Nakuru Central Police Station on Sunday where he has been held since.

Nakuru East Sub County Police Commandant, Stephen Matu said he will be arraigned on Monday to answer murder charges.
