BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,10TH SEPT 2019-Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s Imran Okoth and Jubilee Party’s McDonald Mariga have been given their nomination certificates to contest for the Kibra Parliamentary by-election to be held on November 7.
The two were expected to present the same documents to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The mini poll has attracted 26 candidates twelve of whom were cleared on Monday.
While handing the nomination certificate to Imran at the orange house ,Orange democratic Movement party (ODM )leader Raila Odinga urged all other candidates who were seeking the same ticket on ODM party to now support imran. Odinga also expressed joy that a huge number of the said candidates had already declared their support for him.”Am happy to say that all other candidates have promised to back Imran,and this is the way to go”.he said.
On his part ODM party secretary general Edwin Sifuna thanked members of the party as well as other candidates for conducting themselves with decorum during the party primaries .
Sifuna said the had demonstrated high degree of democracy and maturity.
He also expressed optimism that Imran will emerge victories saying he is the capable of continuing with Good leadership that was stared by the late Ken Okoth.
At the Jubilee party headquarters a similar exercise was ongoing with Macdonald Mariga also been given his certificate in a ceremony which was led party secretary general Raphael Tuju.
Mariga Thanked Jubilee party members as well as the leadership for the support given to him vowing not to let them down.
He said he will conduct campaigns a head of the by-election adding that he was optimistic that he will emerge victorious.
