Tension remain high in Kangemi,Nairobi as youth storm census enumerators training centre

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,15TH AUG 2019-Police have been forced to lob teargas canisters  to disperse a group of you who stormed census enumerators training centre in Kihumbuini primary school in Kangemi, Nairobi County protesting the ‘flawed’ hiring on Tuesday.

Residents says  majority of the enumerators are from Eastlands.

 

However Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi says  that the process will not go on, until the register is audited.

In this year’s census, a total 174,700 personnel will be hired for the exercise set to be conducted on August 24 and 25, 2019.

Unlike in 2009 when papers were largely used to record data,this year the government plans to go the technology way in a move aimed at adopting  a paperless process.
