BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,10TH JUNE 2019-Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris on Monday fired back at Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko after her arrival from Vancouver, Canada following the governor’s claims during a live television interview on Wednesday.
Speaking from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the Women Representative stated that she knew many were expecting her to talk about her altercation with the governor, that had been highly publicized by the media.
“I choose to act with integrity,I choose to follow the constitution.I will not go down that route,” she highlighted.
She added that she would be visiting the office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission(EACC) and the office of National Cohesion so that the matter could be looked into.
“This time I’m not letting it go, what we are going to do is follow due process.
“I will use every single rule and law and be guided by this constitution to ensure that this is the last time that somebody uses falsehood to bring down a woman or to bring down a woman leader,” she maintained.
She added that there a lot of good women who can be good leaders in Kenya narrating that there is always a perception that women leaders are guilty.
“I am holding my head high because that is my right from my Maker and I have nothing to be ashamed of, the only thing I am ashamed of is the people telling horrific lies,” she continued.
Passaris maintained that if a person insults another woman, it is the same as insulting those in their household especially if what is being said is false.
“When you take public office, you have to be guided by the constitution, you have to be guided by what is right, you cannot use lies,” she affirmed.
