Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu arrested by EACC detectives,taken for questioning in graft probe

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,23RD MAY 2019-Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been arrested and taken to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi  for questioning  over alleged graft-related issues.

This comes just hours after ,EACC detectives raided his houses in Garden City and Runda at dawn on Thursday and spend the better part of the day  searching them .

Waititu was  expected to record a statement over alleged corruption in his administration’s Kaa Sober program which is aimed at rehabilitating alcoholics.

The Kiambu County Assembly has already passed a supplementary budget allocating over Sh 700 million to the initiative.

The  EACC  is also looking for 15 more officials of the county  over what is said its playing a role  covering up to conceal irregular expenses under the Kaa Sober program.
