Police arrest two in Mombasa with elephant tusks weighing 9kgs

BY CORRESPONDENT,MOMBASA,16TH MAY 2019-Police in Mombasa  have arrested two suspects in possession of elephant tusks weighing 9Kgs .The two were arrested  in Mwembe Tayari.

Police  say  Ibrahim Samonali who is a foreigner and Japhet Muguni Bakari had put the nine tusks in a sack of maize.

The two are in lawful custody waiting to be arraigned. Police have also confiscated trophies which they had and will be used as exhibits.

This  is one incident  among several others    which have  been witnessed  at the coastal  region .Last year two people in Diani with elephant tusks worth Sh1.9 million.
