Macharia Njeru sworn in as representatives to JSC

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,15TH MAY 2019-High Court Judge David Majanja and human rights lawyer Macharia Njeru have been sworn in at the Supreme Court as representatives of LSK and High Court to the JSC respectively.

The two  took oathe under the administration of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi, marking the beginning of their 5-year reign as representatives at the Judicial Service Commission.

Macharia Njeru, who is also a former IPOA boss beat Prof Tom Ojienda on Thursday last week in a fiercely contested Law Society of Kenya elections.

He managed to garner  2,738 votes against Ojienda’s 2,545 votes. The poll was however marred with low voter turnout. On Tuesday , Prof Ojienda reportedly hatched a plan to challenge the eligibility Njeru’s election to the JSC.Judge David Majanja on the other hand was elected to represent judges and magistrates at the JSC.

However, his gazettement took longer than Mr Njeru’s  causing uproar  from across the legal circles.
