BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,10TH MAY 2019-The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has interdicted 75 of its staff who are believed to be involvement in abetting tax evasion and facilitating access to services through bribery and corruption.The tax agency has confirmed the news in a statement.
In its statement released on Friday,KRA said of those cases, 61 are from the domestic taxes department while 14 are from the customs and border control.
Its employees in Nairobi are the most affected with 61 cases recorded.
Those arrested in Nairobi were taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for questioning and are expected to be presented in court on Monday.
Last year, KRA fired 85 officers and instituted 15 cases of lifestyle audits for its staff on suspicion of aiding tax evasion.
