Education ministry tightens the noose around exam cheating,to only allow use of phones among exam centre managers

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,3RD OCT 2018-Education ministry has tightened the noose around exam cheating with Only exam centre managers set to be allowed  to use their phones as the government adopts stringent measures to curb cases of cheating during the forthcoming national examinations.

According to education CS Amina Mohamed ,the phones will be closely monitored while all the exam materials will be put under the County Director of Educations and the County Deputy Commissioners.In the past, mobile phones have been used to share exam materials often leaking to social media.

CS Mohamed has assured that all loopholes have been sealed warning of stern action against attempts to leak the exams.

“Our security agencies will be facilitated in securing our examinations in a manner that is fair, just and dignified,” she said during a farewell luncheon of four commissioners of the National Police Service Commission on Wednesday.

The CS said any case of malpractice will be dealt with swiftly to ensure the quality of the outcome is not diluted.

In the past, mobile phones have been used to share exam materials often leaking to social media.

The three-day Kenya Certificate for Primary Education examinations will kick off at the end of this month.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has also committed to ensure measures put in place are enforced.
