BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,2ND OCT 2018-Two Chad nationals and a Kenyan will be held in police custody for 15 days as police continue with investigation after they were found in possession of fake currencies worth over Sh1 billion.
They appeared before Nairobi Magistrate Sinkyiak Tobiko on Tuesday who allowed police to continue holding the three after the prosecution told the court that it needs more time to establish the foreigners’ true identity.
They also wanted to find out whether they have accomplices who are still at large.
The suspects were arrested Monday when police raided an apartment along Brookside Drive.
Police searched the suspects house and managed to recover fake currency in dollars and Euros.
While allowing the application the court noted that “the amount seized is huge and if released it will crumble the economy.”
The case is set to be mentioned on October 16 for plea taking and further directions.
