BY NAMULONGO PETER/CORRESPONDENT,NAKURU,17TH SEPT 2018-Nakuru Deputy Speaker Joshua Tonui and 4 other people were on Monday charged in a Nakuru court over the Njoro clashes that left six people dead.They were both arraigned in court for promoting and planning warlike activities.
Tonui was arrested last week after he was linked to the ethnic clashes in Nessuit and Marioshoni.
13 schools that were being used by those who were displaced by the clashes have now been opened after they were ordered to vacate.
During the skirmishes house were set ablaze and families displaced in the fight that involved two communities who have been affected by the ongoing evictions in the Mau Forest Complex.
The fighting is reported to have been caused by theft of animals where cattle belonging to one of the Ogiek family were stolen while grazing in the forest.The move triggered the community to start fighting their neighbouring Kipsigis community accusing them of stealing their livestock.
