BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,6TH SEPT 2018-Stage is set for a do or die meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Chief Justice David Maraga who are expected to meet today (Thursday 6 September) in what is seen as a perfect opportunity for the two to deliberate on the differences that have been witnesses between the judiciary and the executive.
Several issues have in the past been seen as a source of conflict between the two most powerful arm of government with each side blaming the other.
One of the most hottest issue will be the move by the treasury to drastically cut Judiciary’s spending for the 2018/2019 financial year which was reduced to Sh17.3 billion before Parliament slashed it further to Sh14.5 billion, leaving only Sh50 million for development.
The chief justice David Maraga has complained bitterly about the move as well as other stakeholders who considered the decision as done in bad faith.
Apart from that other issues of conflict between the two will be deliberated at length.
