BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,5TH SEPT 2018-Opposition leader Raila Odinga has met and held talks with former Nairobi county governor candidate Peter Kenneth.
The meeting held at Odinga’s office in Capital Hill in Nairobi saw the two leaders discuss a number of issues.Among them is the ongoing debate on high cost of fuels brought about by the implementation of the newly introduced 16% VAT on petroleum products as well as unity of the Nation.
Odinga who spoke to journalists after the meeting praised Kenneth saying he has a vast knowledge of issues affecting the country having served as a cabinet secretary or minister in the then Kibaki government.”Kenneth is a friend we worked very closely during the grand coalition government ,he was a assistant minister in the ministry of finance,so we have discusses issues concerning our economy”.said Odinga.
On his part Kenneth has also added his voice in the ongoing discussion on cost of fuel urging the government to halt the implementation of the new VAT rule.”we can have the VAT but we can reduce other taxes associated with the fuel so that prices can remain the same”.he said.
He also added that the handshake entered into between president Kenyatta and Odinga is important in uniting the country going forward.
