BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,21ST AUG 2018-Muslim faithfuls across the country have flocked various mosques and open grounds for prayers, marking the their Idd celebrations.
This is despite Chief Kadhi Ahmed Muhdhar’s advice to mark the day on Wednesday 22 August .
A spot check done by WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE in various parts of the country on Tuesday morning revealed that the faithful had gathered in large numbers in worship areas in prayer.
In Mombasa’s Tononoka grounds hundreds gathered to mark the festival on Tuesday morning.
Others converged on open grounds and mosques for special prayers.
Although Sheikh Muhdhar announcement to have the celebrations marked on Wednesday relied on the local sighting, those who defied him followed the announcement by Saudia Arabia to go hand in hand with celebrations by the pilgrims.
The chief Kadhi’s announcement almost brought divisions in the country especially after interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi announced that the day be marked today Tuesday 21st Aug.
The leader of majority in parliament Aden Duale also criticized the chief Kadhi for contradicting the CS position on the matter.Duale called for chief Kadhi to be investigated
