BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,23RD JULY 2018-Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Monday appeared before senate committee investigating the Solai Dam tragedy that claimed lives of 48 people.
The CS was faced by tough questions concerning payments made to victims of the tragedy. It is reported that the victims have never been decently compensated after unnamed people and cartels ganged up to siphon the cash meant for them
Mr Perry Mansukh, the owner of the dam had last week told the Senate team that he gave Sh35 million to provincial administration officers to give out to the victims of the tragedy.
He said he gave out the money as compensation to indemnify himself from the damages caused.

Mr Matiang’i said those found culpable for professional misconduct will be dealt with according to the law.
Dr Matiang’i said he will submit the probe report to the Senate committee that is probing the Solai dam tragedy in 30 days
