BY CORRESPONDENT,SIAYA,16TH JULY 2018- Former US President Barack Obama has urged the government to ensure that girls get equal educational opportunities just as their male counterparts.
Addressing over 1000 guests invited for the official launch of Sauti Kuu vocational training center in Siaya county on Monday,Obama who is in the country for one day official visit says the only way to empower the current and future generation s by educating all equally.
He has further urged Kenyans to love one another and unite for the sake of the development of the country despite their tribal and political differences.
At the same time he congratulated president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for agreeing to work together in uniting the nation saying that was what Kenya needs most.”Am happy to note that in the recent past we have seen political leaders agree to work together and this is commendable and the way to go”.he said.
Obama has urged political leaders to respect the constitution and what it stipulates concerning leadership of the country.Adding that Kenya had a wonderful constitution,Obam has urged political leaders to ensure that what divides the country around election time is addressed saying that it was the only threat to Kenya’s stability going forward.
He has asked the government to ensure that the ongoing war on corruption is sustained until public resources are no longer stolen.
