BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,15TH JULY 2018-Former US President Barack Obama met opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday at a Nairobi hotel.
Sources have told www.upesinews.co.ke that the two leaders dwelt on the future of Kenya as a democratic nation where everybody and community is accommodated. In a statement to newsrooms, Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango said the two leaders met at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel, Westlands, at 4pm.
Access to the meeting was restricted, as the session was meant to be a private meeting between the two leaders.
Obama’s meeting with Odinga came on the backdrop of his meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
He will then head to K’Ogello, Siaya County, on Monday where he will open a sports centre under Sauti Kuu Foundation; an initiative by his step-sister, Dr. Auma Obama.
Heavy security has already been deployed to K’Ogello ahead of his visit.At the Sauti Kuu Centre, there are at least half a dozen lorries carrying GSU officers and an almost equal number of vehicles from the US embassy with more security personnel.
Secret Service officials are also in sight to oversee smooth running of the former President’s visit.
Security remains tight in Nairobi and Nyanza ahead of Obama’s tour on Monday.
