BY SAMSON MBII,NAIROBI,25TH JUNE 2016-Innocent Simiyu has been reinstated as kenya 7s rugby team head coach.The decision follows an elaborate meeting held between sports cabinet secretary Rashid Muhamed and the board of directors and the chief executive officer of Kenya Rugby union KRU.
In statement sent to the press on Monday morning,CS says they have also agreed that the ministry will work with KRU on the pending payments of the teams salaries and allowances.
In future the federation to be consulting with the ministry before such key and serious decisions are made.Further the board of directors and the ministry agreed unanimously agreed that their goal is to see a successful national rugby teams and they will go all extra mile to ensure this is a realty.
The meeting was held at the ministry of sports offices in Nairobi with KRU board of directors were led by their vice chair Thomas Opiyo and CEO Ronald Bukusi and was predominantly called to discuss the issue of suspension of head coach as well as preparation of 7s world cup to be held in july 2018 in San Francisco united states of America.
