Migori county mourns the untimely demise of senator Ben Oluoch

BY NAMULONGO PETER.NAIROBI,19TH JUNE 2018-Migori  county has been plunged into mourning following the untimely demise of  Senator Ben Oluoch Okello who died  in Nairobi on Monday night.

Mr Okello worked as a presenter at royal media services Ramongi FM before  entering into politics.

He passed on at  the Mp shah  hospital after long battle with cancer.

The Migori Senate Office also confirmed Mr Okello’s death.

“We are very sad to inform the public that Senator Ben Oluoch Okello is no more,” Mr Oguda Walter, the communications director, said.

Mr Okello, popularly known as BOO among his radio fans back then, has been in and out of hospital.

He was recently treated and discharged from an Indian hospital.

“He had been in India for two months and was treated. He went back for review and his doctors discovered a tumour that had not healed,” the late senator’s brother Dennis Ojwang’ said.

In the run-up to the ODM primaries, the journalist floored former Migori County Assembly Speaker Gordon Ogolla, former Knut deputy secretary-general Charles Katege, businesmen Eddy Oketch and Mr Solomon Hodo.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are among top leaders who have sent their condolences messages to the family and friends of Okello following his death.Others are speaker of the senate Ken Kusaka,senators James Orengo and  a number of members of parliament among them Alfred Keter.

His body is currently at the Lee funeral home in Nairobi.
