Treasury CS Henry Rotich to read 2018/19 budget in parliament

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,14TH JUNE 2018-Treasury cabinet secretary Henry Rotich will today Thursday  14 June read the 2018/2019 Budget  estimates on the floor of parliament.

The CS  will be submitting  the draft Finance Bill, 2018 and other draft Bills and regulations relating to taxation matters for consideration by the House.

Rotich will also have to explain how he plans to fund the huge budget considering past experiences where the tax levied by Kenyans  have fallen short  meeting expected threshold.

The big four agenda by the president Uhuru Kenya has its portion in  this budget with Rotich  also expected to tell the nation how these important pillars of Jubilee government plan will be funded.

The big four  touches on  Food security, Affordable Healthcare, Manufacturing and Housing among others.

According to budget estimates, the Treasury is expected to collect Sh1.923 trillion, with revenue anticipated to grow 17.04 percent.

Security remains tight around parliament building a head of the speech to be delivered in the afternoon.

Police have warned there could be disruption of traffic flow on some routes as VIPs move to Parliament Buildings.
