A suspected drug trafficker arrested in Migori,500kg of bhang nabbed

BY CORRESPONDENT,MIGORI, 10TH JUNE,2018-A suspected drug trafficker  has been  arrested in Migori with  500kg of bhang worth  close to  Sh5m at Bwembu in Suna West sub-County.

According to Migori Administration Police Commandant Julius Mukanda, the  drugs were hidden in a maize farm.

“Today in the morning, police officers were tipped off by members of the public that someone was suspected of ferrying bhang. The officers swung into action and got hold of the illegal consignment,” said Mr Mukanda.

Mr Mukanda who was addressing the press  said the suspect, identified as  Mr Duncan Ochieng, was found manning the drugs which were set to be transported to an unknown destination.

Police suspect the marijuana was transported from Tanzania through the Isebania border.

The suspect  is currently being  detained at Migori Police Station  and will be  arraignment on Monday.
