BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,8TH JUNE,2018-Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has suffered a major setback after his 2017 election victory was nullified by the court on Friday.
This follows a successful appeal filed by arch-rival Wavinya Ndeti of the Wiper party.
Mutua’s victory was nullified by a three-judge bench of the Appeals Court in a ruling read out by Justice William Ouko.
The judges ruled that the election results as declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission failed the constitutional test and could not be verified.
Addressing journalists after the ruling Mutua said he will appeal the decision insisting that he was still in office.”Am still in office and i will appeal this move, these are small things that will stand on the way of people who have a great destiny”.he said.
This are expected events for me and you will be surprised to see me becoming the president of this country in future,am not moved”.Asserted Mutua.
