BY CORRESPONDENT,MERU,1ST JUNE 2018-Security has been beefed up at Meru’s Kinoru stadium as Kenyans from all walks of life arrive for the madaraka day celebrations.Spot check done by WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE at the stadium has established that by 6am the stadium had alreday been filled with only remaining space being that of the VIPs which was yet to be filled.

Police officers from the general service unity could be seen standing at strategic positions at the stadium manning security.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the chief guest at this year’s 55th celebrations whose climax will be his speech.

Enthusiastic Kenyans on Friday rose up early to attend the 55th Madaraka Day at Kinoru Stadium in Meru.

By 6am, the terraces reserved for the public were already full, with security officers forced to lock the gates to bar thousands of Kenyans eager to enter the stadium.

More than 18,000 are expected to attend the event with all gates leading to and from the stadium having been opened as early as 6am.
