BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,21ST MAY 2018-Members of parliament have suffers setback after the High Court on Monday ruled that MPs can be served with court summons or orders within the precincts of Parliament after declaring sections of the Parliamentary Privileges Act unconstitutional. This is according to Sections 7 and 11 of the Act which the court says are inconsistent with the Constitution.
Until this ruling MPs were protected from being served with court directives.
The direction comes even as National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi said legislators would not be gagged by court injunctions.
He had faulted numerous court orders muzzling Parliament on critical matters.
