Eldoret high court closed indefinitely as lawyers decry transfer of judges and magistrates

BY CORRESPONDENT,ELDORET,14TH  MAY 2018-The Eldoret Law Courts, including the High Court has been closed indefinitely after  lawyers went on strike following what they say was a persistence problem of  lack of magistrates and judges at the busy court.

Lawyers who staged sit-in to in a bid to pile pressure on the Judicial Service Commission to post more court officers to the station on Monday,say there has been deliberate effort to  transfer magistrates and judges from the court destabilizing services.

The y claims that  there was 4,000-case backlog at the station that serves counties in North and South Rift and yet no judges to oversee the rulings.According to them cases that would have been ruled on within a short time are taking close to one year.
