BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,15TH APRIL 2018-Second liberation hero Kenneth Matiba, who is a champion for multiparty politics, has died .Matiba Died at Karen Hospital on Sunday at the age of 85 according to his daughter Ivy .
Mr Matiba will be remembered for his spirited fight to introduce multiparty politics in Kenya in early 1990s.
Mr Matiba emerged second losing to former President Daniel Moi in presidential poll held in 1992 .
Moi had held him in detention without trial for agitating for multiparty democracy.
Matiba was held without trial at Kamiti Maximum Prison in 1990 together with politician Charles Rubia.
The two were among Kenyans calling for multiparty democracy.
While in prison, he suffered stroke, which affected a large part of his body leaving him incapacitated for some time.
He was later released, after the government allowed multiparty politics.
Matiba became a senior civil servant aged only 31 years.
His health begun to deteriorate immediately he was released from prison.he has never been the same having been to many hospitals to seek medication.
He has also a businessman with interest in schools and hotels in various parts of the country.
