BY CORRESPONDENT,NAROK,11TH MARCH 2018-Shop owners at Kisiriri shoping centre in Narok North are counting huge losses after fire destroyed their shops and businesses on Sunday morning.
The affected traders said property valued at more than Sh1.8 million was razed to the ground.
According to Korir Lenges one of the affected traders the night inferno may have been as a result of an electric fault “There was no sign that such a thing is going to happen,we closed shops normally only to be called that fire had erupted”.he said
He said the fire spread fast to the shops, most of which were made of timber.
By the time the county fire engine responded 30 minutes later, nothing could be salvaged, he said.
“This transformer has been producing funny sounds for some time now. There are times we see sparks coming from it,” he said.
There was drama at the scene after the fire brigade truck ran out of water and had to go back to Narok Town, 30 kilometres away, to be refilled.
But a Chinese construction company water bowser helped put out the fire.
Confirming the incident ,Narok police boss Joseph Kisombe said they have begun investigation to establish the cause.
