Uhuru and Odinga agree to unite in addressing deep rooted challenges that have divided the nation

BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI 9TH MARCH 2018-President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga have agreed to bury the hatchet and forge a common ground in uniting the nation.Addressing the nation after their meeting at the Uhuru’s Harambee house office on Friday,the two leaders admitted that Kenya has a problem and needs to be fixed.

Odinga saying that time had come to confront the challenges that have caused serious divisions among Kenyans since independent.

NASA leader said the only way to heal the nation is to put aside the hardstands and begin the journey to a more united,cohesive and harmonious country.He has regretted that even though the country passed the new constitution in the 2010 the aspirations of the document have not helped in uniting the nation.”In the past we have given attention to reforms of institutions hoping that they will help restore the fabric of our country but we have not succeeded’,we need to save our children from ourselves.we  refuse to allow our diversity to kill our nation”.Said Odinga.

On his part president Uhuru Kenyatta has said he  was ready to ensure that Kenya becomes one.The president also admitting that all was not well in Kenya going by the indicators of divisions already very present. ”We have agreed with my brother Odinga that this country is bigger than all of us.we will do all it takes to ensure we are one people .”he said.
