BY JOHN WERU,CORRESPONDENT,8TH MARCH 2018-Slain Meru university student leader Evans Njoroge was laid to rest on Thursday March 8 at his his parents farm in Longonot, Naivasha. A somber mood engulfed the ceremony especially considering that he was the only son to his parents.
Njoroge was shot at a sweet potato farm by police after protests broke out in the university.
Various players among them Amnesty International have called for the arrest of the officer. Lawyer Nelson Havi.
Evans Njoroge was shot dead while leading a protest in the university a week ago.They student were protesting against poor infrastructure as well as higher fees charged at the institution.
The ministry of education has since sent the Vice chancellor Japheth Magambo on a terminal leave owing to the standoff.
All those who spoke during the burial called upon the government to ensure justice is served.
The police are yet to arrest the person behind the shooting identified as a policeman.
