Three escape death narrowly in Nyeri as a light aircraft crashes at Nyaribo airtstrip

BY CORRESPONDENT,NYERI,28TH FEB 2018-Three people have escaped death narrowly after a light aircraft crashed while taking off at Nyaribo airstrip on Wednesday.

Those on board include  former Nyeri MP Esther Murugi, her daughter-in-law and her son who was a pilot.

The MP and the pilot, Gichuki Mathenge, escaped unhurt while the daughter-in-law suffered slight injuries on her forehead and right arm.

WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that the incident happened when the aircraft was taking off b after failure of its  engine.The aircraft hit the fence surrounding the airstrip and landed in an adjacent field.

According to the  former  law maker  who  spoke  at the scene after the incident said that they were headed to Nairobi from Nyeri Town where they had gone to condole with her friend who lost her husband.

The scene of accident remains secured as  investigators get down to establish  the cause of the crash.
