Langata MP Nixon Korir’s election victory upheld by the court

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,27TH FEB 2018-Langata member of parliament Nixon Korir has gotten a reprieve after the high court upheld his election.The petitioner has been ordered to pay costs of the suit amounting to Sh 5 million.
The court said that the evidence presented was inadequate to warrant her to nullify the election. the petition was filed by Oscar Omoke who was the ODM candidate in the August 8 election.
“The petitioner failed to prove his allegations of election irregularities ranging from intimidation of his agents, misuse of public resources and alterations in forms 35A,” Justice Njuguna said in her ruling
The judge had earlier order for a vote recount in six polling stations to determine the number of valid and spoilt votes.
Nixon Korir had won the August election under the Jubilee party defeating Oscar Omoke of ODM.
Korir had vied on a Jubilee party ticket.
