High court in Kitale upholds governor Patrick Khaemba’s election

BY CORRESPONDENT,KITALE,23RD FEB 2018-A Kitale High Court has dismissed a petion that was challenging Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba’s election held on August 8, 2017
The judge upheld his election after making the finding that the two voters who contested his win failed to prove their case.
He said the poll was free and fair and that Khaemba was validly elected.
His supporters burst into song and dance after the dismissal of the petition by two voters – Robinson Simiyu and Alpha Chore.
The court had ordered a recount of votes at 131 poling stations after a lawyer questioned a report on the previous scrutiny.
There was heated debate at the Kitale High Court during the hearing of the case
Khaemba welcomed the judgement as well his party leader Moses Wetangula.
