BY CORRESPONDENT,MERU,22ND FEB 2018-Embu governor Martin Wambora has lost his seat.This is after the high court in Meru ruled that he was not validly elected in the Elections held on August 8 2017.
The gubernatorial candidate Lenny Kivuti had challenged Wambora’s victory claiming it was marred by massive irregularities.
Kivuti had lost to Wambora in August polls.
The independent Electoral and boundaries commission has been ordered to conduct fresh elections.
Judge Musyoka ruled that he was satisfied by the evidence presented in court by the petitioner.
Mr Wambora of Jubilee Party was declared winner in the August 8 poll after garnering 97,760 votes against Mr Kivuti’s 96,775.
However, Mr Kivuti claimed electoral malpractices were perpetuated to ensure Wambora won.
