BY CORRESPONDENT,MOMBASA,22ND  FEB 2018– Mombasa  governor Hassan Joho can now breath easy after high court on Thursday  upheld his  re-election in the 2017 General Election.

High Court Judge Lydia Achode made the judgement after finding that the petitioner, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, failed to prove his case.

Omar went to court on September 8 last year  filed a petition against Joho, the electoral commission and Returning Officer Nancy Wanjiku Kariuki, claiming there was massive rigging. Omar came third in the August 8 elections behind Joho and second-placed Suleiman Shahbal of Jubilee.
At the time Omar   also challenged  the declaration of Joho as governor based on his academic qualifications.
