Kilifi governor Amason Kingi’s election upheld by court

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,21ST FEB 2018-Kilifi governor Amason Jeffa Kingi can now breath easy after the high court threw out a petition challenging his victory in the Elections held on August 8 last year.
While making his ruling on Wednesday February 21, judge Weldon Korir said that the petitioner Kazungu Kambi did not provide sufficient evidence to support his position.
Kambi who is a former labor cabinet secretary had stated that the election was marred by irregularities as well as voter bribery during the exercise. He had wanted the court to cancel the entire election and declare a new date when the election will be held.
He had vied on a ford asili party ticket.
Kazungu has been fined kshs 4milion as the cost for the suit while Kingi will part with Ksh 1.7.
